Have made various efforts at trying to eliminate the throttle body whistle, but have had no sucess at quieting it down...but NOW, I am having another issue developing on this rig: an engine "stumble" at city OR highway speeds AND in "PARK" an engine "stumble and RPM surge(up to 3000 RPM)" while sitting in a line waiting to move.  Anyone got any TSB's addressing this OR a "fix" to cure this issue?

Thanks,

Rich

I got in touch with a buddy of mine that works at a Jeep dealership and he pointed my right at the TPS (throttle position sensor). Apparently there have been many issues of the TPS really screwing up the ECM and fuel injection systems running too rich because of inaccurate electrical signals from this little rheostat. I have had very poor fuel economy since I bought this rig. I'll tell ya something, though, Mopar parts really should go back to standard slotted or "phillips" head screws. Those "torx" head screws are a real pain to get a solid bite on to remove or install (and the locktite on the threads is not really necessary, it binds up the installing of the screws into the throttle body - I wire brushed them off). But since I could not remove the screws from the throttle body to remove the TPS, I ended up chiseling off the TPS main body from the ears that had the screws through them, popped off the TPS from the throttle body and chipped the plastic ears away from the screw sleeves and then used vise-grips to remove the screws from the throttle body. I screwed on the new TPS with the new screws Mopar sends with each TPS(you think they might know something about the screws already?), remounted the throttle body with a "new" gasket and connected everything back on. WOW, what a difference in response and the way the engine operates. No stumble, no cut out and no RPM surges on the trip into work to downtown Seattle (50 miles) this morning. I'll keep you posted on the mileage variance after a coupler of tanks of fuel.

But that blasted "whistle" is still there. Help?
