If it were me I would go for the Sport with the diesel. I have no problems with the 3.8 it is a good engine, but would love the torque provided by the diesel.

Yes it is worth it, and go for deisel, I dont know how much danas are down under. But their not cheap. and the rubis with front and rear lockers are awesome. I have one with the rock crawler tranny. Performance is great.
