When I bought my 93YJ the frame had a few questionable spots, along the way we welded alot, patched, and hope it would hold together, finally one day it was sooo rotten the motor mounts gave way ( I beleive because the frame actually twisted) I mean it was bad you couldnt close my door because the whole tub was bending in the middle.  We finally bought a YJ for $500 and swapped the frames it was the best thing I ever did, cause I love my jeep.  If you go to my spaces page there is a few pictures of the frame swap www.vtjeepgurl.spaces.live.co m  Good Luck!

When we swapped the new frame into VTJEEPGIRL's '93 it went pretty smooth. I stripped the donor jeep to its axles and drivetrain. Then I removed the body from her '93 and set it to the side. Then with the 2 chassis next to each other I swapped the engine/tranny/transfer case over and installed the lift kit. While installing the lift kit I decided to use her '93 axles also. Once I had the chassis set I put the body on the frame using Prothanes 1" body lift mounts. I could have used more of the donor Jeep and saved some time but I decided to keep as much of her '93 as possible. I have a couple of pictures of the swap on my page. If your frame has a lot of rust I think it's easier to just swap in a new frame. Granted I own a crane and used it to lift the body off in one piece tub, fenders and all. You can lift a tub off with an engine hoist or even a group of friends. We just sold a decent 6 cylinder YJ frame for $150. If you keep your eye out you can find decent frames out there. Good luck with your project.
