I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (TJ), and just recently the gages have been going crazy. I can be driving down the road and my "Airbag" light on my dash will light up, then a few seconds after, all my gages go out and "no bus" shows up where the odometer reading is. They will finally start back working. Just wanted to know what the problem is and how can I fix it? Any help is great appreciated!!! Thanks in advance! -April (CarolinaShygirl) |

Damn that sucks. Me & my "ghetto fabulous 80's Jeep" dont have lights in the dash & when the any of the gauges fail, I just beat on the dash til they come back up.
Mine has a clear plastic card looking hting wiht "snail trails" on it that connect the electronics. I know it needs to be replaced, But I'm too lazy right now to do it. It still rolls down the road, so at this time i'm not too concerned. Good luck!! --------------------------------------------------------------

I had a chevy z-71 that the same thing happened to it, and it was a loose ground wire to the engine...

This happens to my jeep, what happens is the instrument cluster has 2 sets of plugs in the back and they get loose after time and lose connectivity. What I do is i take off the lower panels under the cluster and reach my hand up to the backside of the cluster Push the plugs and the cluster together. The only problem is that after 6 months or so it happens again. |

a better solution to this problem would be to take the cluster out, and on the male side of the plug that attaches to the back side of the cluster, take a set of needle nose pliers and turn each prong about 5 degrees, just enough so its not straight anymore.. this will create a much better connection behind the cluster and the plug and should perminately remedy your problem... takes about 15-20 minutes if your slow..

I bet this works.. next time it does the gauge failure/airbag light thing punch the airbag on the passengers side on the top left corner.. lol
Whats going on is the plug for the airbag has a bad connection and when the computer see's that the gauges shut off and the engine light goes on.. Only reason I figured that one out is obvious.. I PUNCHED IT !.. hahhaaha Does it about once a week on mine.. mostly on a hot day for some reason..

All I need now is a JEEP GIRL ! |

My Cluster went out on my Jeep 98 and I had it replaced for like 80 bux. Everything has been fine since. The Air bag to me would be no problem..."You know if your air bag deploys LOL" But the speed gauges, now that is a different story. So I took it to the jeep place and had it fixed.
