Here's a fix I found on another site and decided to try it out. It's been found that after washing your JK or after a rain, the mirror bases can fill up with water and then take days to dry out or possibly leak into the doors through the mounting bolts. This fix took me about 3 minutes to do. Using a rotary tool with a 1/16" drill bit I drilled (VERY SLOWLY!) about 1/4" below the horizontal arm of the mirror base and slightly rearward from the vertical center line and at a slightly upward angle. Credit goes to Rubimon for the original idea Thanks Rubimon! |

Just got back from the car wash after getting her a bit muddy and the drilled out holes work great. No more water marks from the mirrors. The water drained out almost immediately.

Mine is usually to dusty, muddy or just plain dirty to see watermarks but I will actually pay this some attention and perform the fix. I am doing this not because the water marks but rather anything that holds water causes rust eventually. Thanks for the information.
