April 1st, 2007: I find it hard to believe it's April already! But with the change in the weather brings a renewed interest to work on the Jeep, update it, detail it, get it muddy, detail it again, and make plans for future upgrades. The day was so nice, it begged that I get out and play with the Jeep. Sadly, by living in Ohio, I don’t have a lot of places “locally” (and legally) to wheel.
I have a place I go, by the name of, Miami River Road. It’s a country back road that follows the Great Miami River. One day I’d even like to build a cabin in one of the wooded areas along this stretch of rural road. Not that it’s a great place to wheel, it does offer a chance to relax and enjoy the rural surroundings.
The local club I belong to (MuddyBuddys.net) went to Southern Ohio over the weekend. From the comments and pictures posted on the site, looks like their trip to the Richland Furnace rocked! (pun intended) We have bike trails, hiking trails, and lots of State owned land here. Why doesn’t Ohio offer a place to Jeep? (To include ATVs.) One such location that would be perfect would be Lockington Dam reserve. The park contains an area that is ruff, hilly and over-grown. As Jeepers believe in “leaving the land as they found it”, designated trails could be set-up, and doing so would not affect the wildlife within the park nor the integrity of the land.
May 2nd, 2007 Relay for Life
In conjuction with this year's Relay, was what may become an annual event, a Jeep Rally. The pictures below show the "Jeep play ground" being set-up. The event was open to stock or motified Jeeps. Effort was made to set-up the course, so everyone could join in the fun! And they did! There were even a few stock Cherokees that went were a few of the Wranglers could not go! Started out a little damp, but turned into a sunny day, up until the very end.
There were a little over 50 Jeeps in attendance. After spending the most part of the day at the "play ground" the Jeepers headed to Erwin Chrysler / Jeep for lunch and more Jeep games. This may become an annual event.
June 19th, 2007 Say goodbye to a bit of Jeep history. This is the birthplace of Jeep. Where, Jeep put Toledo on the map! Jeep has had many owners over the years, but has stayed true to it's original design!
