atleast use a 4foot whip a wilson or a firestick they work the best..put it on the right side of rear you get farther out. your cable needs 2be in 3foot increments ex for best results have dual antennas if possible it heips when your in valleys and between tall ridges.. i run 2 5footers w/ a linear[a 250watt] on a bad day i get out atleast 70 miles ,,perfect conditions,and good skip i can reach as far away as california or too the otherside like new york

Always liked those Cobra's... have a Royce 23 channel, still now. Never did the linear thing because of my job (licensed radio op... I'd lose that if I'd get caught!). Never had a good base... because I never had a BASE ta put it in (should i say dat's a 'wife' kinda thang?!) Wired the mics... pinger's and all. Yer not doing the SSB thing than are ya?

Geez.. if'in I mic'ed up like u... my neighbors would run me outta town! Yer lucky to be out in dem dar HILLS, where ya can play radio in the BIG ways.

I would like to git a pair of dem Firesticks on Ol' Yellor tho!!

in me 2wd truck it has the cobra 29classic ,,it has been worked on. soo has the 250wt linear igettin the linear back from the shop next week!!!! as a kid i remember the clubs in calif for CBers use to get free toys at those "coffee breaks" my handle is HEADSHOT get linear back i bee around

yes on power mike.. got a homebase run w/ 3 linears,, has miked up to other countries, australia , england and germany.. where i live now i would bleed thru rados, television..my father drove rig over 40 years, he always wanted to drowned everybody when he miked up

Good advice... you may wanna inform the 'viewers' the CBs come off the shielf at 5 watts! (stock performance won't git the NY to CA!). But the with right rear mount... the transmit envelop will be toward the front left... the rear twin would be excellent for transmitting straight out in front.

I'm going to have to get a good whip for mine, Bought a softtop and my CB rigs has always only been the mag mount stock sh*t. I would say dual mirror mounts (equal front to rear envelop).... BUT I GOTTA take my doors off and the mirrors go with them, of course.

I'd imagine yer using a power mic also, no?
