I was 22 years old (seems like a lifetime ago) and it had only been 10 months since I learned to walk (again). If you don't know that story, then the long and short of it is that I was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident on Aug 10th, 1998 and, being the one lucky soul out of 10,000, I got enough nervous system function back to walk again (starting about 1 year after the accident).I had gone back to college in the wheelchair and when I could walk again, a college buddy of mine... we'll call him Matt, helped me reconnect to land by taking me wheeling all over the Colorado front range.  Well, over that college spring break, we took 9 days (skipping a few classes) and hit Moab, Utah in his stock YJ 4-banger!Now... it should probably be said that neither he or I had any real concept what "real" wheelin was all about.  Therefore, the only recovery gear we had was a bottle-jack and a cheap first aid kit.  I imagine none of you are surprised that we got stuck a day up Golden Spike and had to camp under a rock while I nursed 3 broken bones in my foot (yeah.. .I fell over a ledge)! However, that wasn't until the seventh day and we sure had a good time leading up to the break-down... I was going through some old photos and thought y'all might enjoy some scans of our trip from a long time back in Moab:(pic 1)It's amazing was a stock YJ 4-banger can climb!(Pic 2)How about the natural beauty (and I don't mean my ugly mug):(Pic 3)Still can't find my way anywhere:(Pic 4)And, this is the first truly pimped out TJ I'd ever seen... he gave our YJ a derisive look and said, "You drove THAT up here?" - about 5 hours before the "break-down":
