Yup, people, it's true, the pygmy rabbit is being threatened. Don't rabbits mulitply like, well ya know...rabbits? See the article below for the silly details and if you can stop laughing long enough drop them a note about what you think about this. January 8, 2008 – The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service published a notice of petition finding and initiation of status review to list the Pygmy rabbit as threatened or endangered. Fish & Wildlife believes that a threatened or endangered listing of the Pygmy may be warranted. Should Fish & Wildlife determine that a listing action is necessary, they will also make critical habitat determinations. A designation could impact lands within California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming due to Pygmy habitat locations listed in the petition. One of the potential threats listed in the petition is mortality caused by OHV and other motorized vehicle collisions. Comments regarding the petition will be accepted until March 8, 2008. It is important that OHV enthusiasts get involved in the listing process by contacting Fish & Wildlife staff.
